Li Yan Primary School

Li Yan Primary School provides mixed-age learning for children aged 6 to 9 and 9 to 12 years old. It’s where children learn to collaborate effectively, be creative, and engage deeply in academic activities. The classroom supports this process with rich content, team learning, and individual autonomy to prepare students to plan, research, and solve complex problems. This educational model fosters deeper learning, innovative thinking, and social relationships – truly preparing children for their future lives.
Mixed-age classrooms mirror real-world work and home environments. Students work together to take care of classrooms, plan excursions, and manage deadlines. Children learn to include others in decision-making, negotiation, and taking responsibility, understanding their own responsibility for commitments. Students have freedom of movement and choice, which allows them to be more aware of their individual needs within the group – for example, when they need to devote themselves to a big project and when they need to take a break.
